Wonderfully lifted violets, mulberry and blue fruits all underlined by gentle smoke and graphite. The palate is brimming with a core of dark fruits, sweet and savoury notes with a really nice focus and buzzy energy. Really is surprising the level of subtle complexity at this price point that remains so easy to drink at the same time. Fast becoming a staff favourite! MYLES, PWSĮstate vineyard, Coal River Valley 15% whole bunches matured 10 months in 5% new French oak puncheons. Bright, crunchy and energetic, charged with longevity and upright confidence thanks to a spine of focused acidity. Black cherries and blackberries are subtly lifted by the violet, bramble and dried herb allusions of a small inclusion of whole bunches. Firm, fine tannins sit neatly on a short finish.

The estate is owned by David Killpatrick, former cardiologist and wine tragic, with a particular penchant for Bordeaux I am reliably informed, but a quick look at the labels is a dead giveaway too. This picturesque vineyard, which is just north of Hobart and south of the Coal River Valley was purchased, and the vineyard planted, by David back in 1998.

To complete the picture David has twisted the right arms here and now has Mark Hoey, former vineyard manager at Stefano Lubiana, working meticulously in the vineyards before handing the fruit over to the one and only Anna Pooley.
